Thanked Times in Posts iTrader Score: I got a sunpro mechanical oil pressure gauge that i was going to put in my chevy pickup, but the one in my 91 2wd cummins sucks, so i was wondering if it would work in the cummins? The gauge is a psi mechanical sunpro gauge. Also, if it will work, how do i install it? Does it just go inplace of the old stock sending unit? When i pull the old one out, will oil leak from it? Any help is appreciated.

Diagnosing And Repairing Faulty Instrument Gauges

If anyone finds a source for a small number of these guys, please post a link in the comments, and I will test them out. Addendum Looks like Luke Miller has found the the float values used in the calculations from the ROV code generates significant errors. He has corrected them to integers and posted code on his github. Unfortunately one of the glitches he found was at Addendum The unit in the picture above survived till we replaced that sensor with a 5-Bar unit on Aug 25th.

The good news is that we had the 5Bar sensor under a layer of QSil Clear Liquid Silicone, and the pressure readings look absolutely normal compared to the naked 2bar sensor it replaced.

• 3-terminal Gauge connector with brown, pink, and black wires will plug onto fuel level gauge. • 3-terminal Gauge connector with blue, pink, and black wires will plug onto oil pressure gauge. • 3-terminal Gauge connector with green, pink, and black wires will plug onto water temperature gauge.

Oil gauge kit Oil gauge kit Oil temperature gauges can either be mechanical or electrical. Below is an example of each type of kit. The Lucas mechanical gauge kit consists of the gauge with capillary tube and sender unit A , and adapter nut and sealing washer B. The TIM electrical gauge kit consists of the gauge with wiring C —which may be mounted via brackets and fixing screws D or via an adhesive pad E — cable ties F , sender unit G , adapter nut H , and nut, washers and terminal connector I.

The working temperature of your engine is normally kept to an optimum level by the cooling system. But there are occasions when your engine is worked harder and reaches temperatures higher than normal. This can happen, for example, when you are towing a trailer or another vehicle, or if your engine has been tuned for higher performance. As the temperature of your engine increases, the engine oil becomes thinner and thinner. If the engine is run above normal temperature for a long time, there is a danger that the oil may become so thin that it can no longer lubricate the moving parts of the engine properly.

If this happens your engine can become seriously damaged to the point where it has to be stripped and rebuilt or replaced completely. Special gauge While a water temperature gauge gives a fairly accurate reading of the engine temperature via the cooling system, it does not directly tell you much about the temperature of the engine oil. For this you need a special oil temperature gauge. These gauges measure the oil temperature with a sender unit, similar to that used for water gauges, which fits directly into the sump pan to give an accurate reading of the temperature.

It works fine right through the plastic dashboard. Unfortunately, this is a eBay listing so this link may eventually expire: The Pioneer supports two USB inputs. I should warn though that it was quite the pain to disassemble that cigarette lighter holder. After some minutes of use sometimes close to an hour , the Pioneer will report that the USB is disconnected and refuse to use it again until you power off the thing entirely for a moment.

HOW IT WORKS Layered within the seat base skin of the passenger seat, there is a complex contact matrix like a foil printed circuit — looks like an aerial view of a maze that senses if the seat is occupied a bum on it and in most cases with post face-lift models, also auto-senses the proximity of the MB child seat. Understanding that the weight may fool the occupancy sensor to thinking an adult bum is on the seat, the child seat detector overrides this and signals the Air Bag Control Module to turn off passenger side airbags.

When it does this, the orange Air-Bag off transmission LED illuminates showing the system is disabled and its safe for baby to travel. On cars pre face lift, without auto child seat detection, the connection from the seat occupancy sensor is connected directly to the Air Bag Control Module and operates just as a simple switch, changing the potential of the signal line to the module when sat on. Post face lift set up is far more complex. This beat is detected by the ABCM Air bag control module when the seat is unoccupied and turns off the air bags on passenger side.

Once the seat is sat on, the electronic box in the seat changes the frequency of the pulse which is again detected by the ABCM to turn the passenger bags on. The other function of the electronic box within the seat is to auto-detect the presence of the MB child seat, this is done by using RFID radio frequency identification working in the same way as the detection alarms at the doors of music shops etc.

It is very common for the wires to and around this connector to break seat-side as they are very fine conductors indeed and this is compounded by a slight design flaw, in that the cable that enters the seat base to the matrix is tie-wrapped to a metal seat component which in turn causes a stress fracture along the wire length where fixed. I would not recommend that any of the following solutions be used if the vehicle is or could be used carrying young infants in the front seat, but worth considering if you are grey and old past it like me.

The sending unit frequently called a switch consists of either a variable-resistance conductor temp sending unit or a rheostat oil-pressure and gas-level sending unit and influences the amount of current flowing through it to the ground.

Bi-metal-gauge sending units offer less resistance when the engine is cold, gas level is low, or oil pressure is low, and more resistance in the opposite case.

Dear Fellow Members, I hesitate to do this my hard drive is only 1gb , but I’m going to solicit advice from the collected Willys “brain trust” on this site. I finally got my 58 cj3b purchased three months ago home this past weekend. I know, I know I should be disbarred from the Willys club for waiting so long, but its a long story so don’t ask. The body is solid and straight, no cancer, very little surface rust and even has a solid tool box.

It has all it’s parts and pieces to include the original drive train and the remains of three-point hitch it had during its farm days. Only things missing are the side-view mirror and a spare tire mount. I can’t get the engine to turn manually. The guy I bought it from a LTC in financial difficulty who owned the jeep for many years assured me it was running when he parked it three years ago.

I pulled the plugs and three of the four chambers look good. The fourth one is rusty and contains what appears to be the remnants of some varnished gasoline. I remember a string awhile back that said moisture can seep in through an open exhaust valve.

Guages on 87 olds cutlass are not working properly. Fuel gauge sending unit- you will need to replace the fuel sending unit on your Olds. Temp guage– normally when this guage starts to malfunction, its because of a bad coolant temperature sensor. Inspect the sensor’s wires and connections. ECT engine coolant temperature sensor problems are often caused by faulty wiring or loose or corroded connections rather than the failure of the sensor itself.

Priced way below similar cars. I have too many projects and I’m running out of time. Frame off restoration was completed 8 years ago and has been driven very little since. This car is a clone GTO, built with all original, period correct parts. Runs, drives, stops excellent. Only 58, miles, you must see to appreciate. I have serviced the car from bumper to bumper and have all the paper work and invoices. You can see this great car is like new! Make an offer, this car is to be sold.

Well restored a combination of superior restoration and excellent original. Also, an extremely well-maintained original showing very minimal wear.

Get your Oil Pressure Sensor changed by a top-rated mechanic at the convenience of your home or office. Without the proper amount of oil, your engine will sustain major damage. Multiple systems in your car are designed to maintain the correct engine oil level and pressure. In order for the engine computer to regulate the flow of oil, the oil pressure sensor needs to work correctly. The oil pressure sensor is hooked directly to the oil pressure gauge on your instrument cluster.

When lower than normal oil pressure is detected, the pressure sensor will make the gauge in the car reflect this change. An Oil Pressure Warning Light will often accompany oil pressure sensor faults. Like any other sensor or switch in your engine, eventually the oil pressure sensor will have repair issues that need to be addressed. Failing to recognize the symptoms of a bad oil pressure sensor can lead to low oil levels , which can be very problematic for your engine. If the Low Oil Light comes on , but you check the oil in the engine and it’s at a good level, then a faulty oil pressure sensor may be to blame.

When this sensor goes bad, it will start to give inaccurate readings. After the readings fall out of specification, a warning light is set. The faster this sensor can be replaced, the less stress you will have regarding the oil levels in your vehicle.
